Welcome to the Moises
Ville Genealogy Site.
This is an
investigation into the families who settled in Moises Ville since its
beginning. Our purpose is to rescue from oblivion and anonymity those who
initiated Jewish agricultural colonization in Argentina, as well as those
who came after them who undertook the task of making the land fruitful.
The purpose of this work is to establish a bond between their descendants
and the history of their ancestors’ sacrifices. No matter where they are,
they can recognize and learn about themselves
or their ancestors from this site.
These pages include
historical data, maps and pictures, some of which have never been
published before. They are included in order to show different
aspects of the history of Moises Ville that has too often been ignored by
historians. In this work we have tried to emphasize the names of the
settlers, important dates for each one, the places where they were born,
how and when they arrived in Argentina, where they lived, when and where
they got married, who were o are their descendants and relatives,
and where they live today.
HISTORICAL and JEWISH COLONIZATION MUSEUM RABBI AARON GOLDMAN - MOISES VILLE
So far we have
included information about 250 families from Moises Ville, Las Palmeras, Monigotes,
Palacios and Virginia, all of whom arrived there between
1889-1905, and a database of about 23,000 people. We have built a
great family, since they are all linked through family bonds in one way or
another. Most are descendants or relatives of the colonists, since gathering
information about them and their families and their arrival in Argentina has
been relatively easy. Other families, those of the merchants and artisans,
will be included in the future.
There is a lot left to
do. Many families have to be added, and additional information about the
families already incorporated must to be added. One of the aims of this
website is to reach those who can contribute more data.
This work has been
developed by myself and without any kind of
financial support. I intend to continue this investigation, making use of
both contacts already established and others that will surely present
themselves. We are still doing research and we
hope to process and publish more material as it becomes available.
The level of support and
interest that this site generates, will determine the pace and extent of its
growth.
