GRATEFULNESS

I want to thank the following sources of information - people and institutions - without which the gathering of the descendants of more than 165 families in one database would have been impossible.

The difficulty of making this gratefullness list is in the order. It is a known tendency to give descending importance according to the order, and the lists of gratefulness always include an explanation because they don't want that the position in the list to be interpreted according to hierarchy. In this case the order does have its value, as somebody or something arises spontaneously to my memory, his place should be interpreted that is related to the importance of the received information (and to nothing else). Those listed in the following list are not comparable, each one has its own significance.

  • The descendants of the involved families: that have been, and will surely continue to be, the most important source of information with which I can count on. It is not enough to  find a list of people with identical names, with that a genealogical tree is not made. It is necessary that somebody explain the family relationships, remembers the family histories and anecdotes, tells us - important data – who the women of that last name have married. And later,  the information on the current family. Some have contributed a whole genealogical tree, while others only  knew some names.

It is impossible to name all them, they are several hundred. However etched in my memory is Frida Trumper Gelburt, old and almost blind she guided me through the labyrinth of the Trumper and Kaller family, and that constituted the foundation of this entire investigation. She then clarified for me the relationships of many Moises Ville families. To her and all the other ones that have contributed data for this investigation - and all those that have done it absolutely unselfishly – my deeply gratefulness.

  • The Association of Jewish Genealogy of Argentina and especially its missed president, my friend, Mr Paul Armony. The AGJA gathers great quantities of genealogical information, especially lists of immigrant passengers and of deceased. It also has wide literature in that field, and it publishes the magazine Toldot that is acquired by many institutions and universities throughout the world. The information it offers to its associates is very important: I have been able to discover the origin, the destination and the composition of a family group - for many - starting from the data of a list of sailing passengers, or I have been able to “re-do” people's marriages though they died many years ago  finding their names by the location of its sepulchers. My gratefulness to the AGJA and Paul Armony. At one time I wrote that if the AGJA didn't exist it would be necessary to invent it just as it is.

  • Jewishgen is “the” site of Jewish genealogy in the world. There are many other, and Jewishgen links to almost all. Through Jewishgen I have been able to link large branches of Moises Ville family trees, to contact many interested in genealogy, for their family history or simply for their last name. I have made many useful contacts this way, and we exchange information. Through mailing lists of descendants originating from the same place of East Europe I have been able to learn of  interesting aspects of each area or of each town, of which  our first “moisevillers”  were natives. My gratefulness to Jewishgen, and especially to Rose Feldman, Nancy Holden and Carol Skidel for their advice and support. Rose has helped in checking the English version of this site, it was indeed  a hard task, trying to understand what I wanted to mean. If it is understandable is thanks to her, mistakes are mine.

  • The Historical Museum of Moises Ville's Jewish Colonization "Rabbi Aaron Goldman" is today an institution recognized in Argentina and in the world, and it is visited annually by many people. It has gathered in several rooms all the aspects of Moises Ville's history, it possesses an important collection of pictures of old residents, and it has carried out a commendable work in the genealogical aspect of creating a database with names mentioned in different sources. I want to mention especially the work carried out with the newspaper El Alba that appeared in Moises Ville during the twenties’, from where many names that figure in our list were rescued. My gratefulness to the Museum, to its board of directors and its director, Eva Guelbert Rosenthal.

  • The Kehila of Moises Ville, as all similar institutions in the world, helps its members and takes care of its cultural, religious and institutional patrimony. The Kehila of Moises Ville especially, fighting continuously against a meager budget, is responsible for the care of its senior citizens, of the temples, of the Jewish education and of Moises Ville's Jewish cemetery. There not only rest the remains of many people that figure in our history, but is also a valuable source of information, names, data, dates and family relationships. The Kehila has offered me the access to its registrations and has helped me to locate centennial tablets. My gratefulness to it and my desire that its work be continued  forever.

  • The Page of Contacts of Moises Ville has been the best “meeting place” and continues  being a great source of information, Thanks to its creator Javier Beker, through who's idea I have been able to meet with natives from Moises Ville around the world. I want to thank to Javier for his site, as all those who enter that page do.
